The New York State Flag of the United States of America Committee sponsors a flag essay contest for fifth and sixth grade students. Chapters enlist schools to participate. From the essays that are written, each chapter selects one essay to submit for consideration for one of the four prizes. The prizes consist of $100.00 (first prize), $50.00 (second prize), $30.00 (third prize) and $20.00 (honorable mention).
