The Ruth Lyon Bush Chapter, NSDAR, was organized in 1935, in Port Chester, New York. Ruth Lyon, daughter of one of the first settlers in Westchester County, married Abraham Bush, who inherited Kings Highway Farm, which consisted of 400 acres.
Israel Putnam (January 7, 1718 – May 29, 1790) was an American army general who fought with distinction at the Battle of Bunker Hill (1775) during the American Revolutionary War (1775–1783). General Israel Putnam stayed at the Bush Farm House during the winter of 1778-1779.
The Ruth Lyon Chapter currently has 17 members. Meetings take place on the third Wednesday of every month, September through May.
